Re: Carland/Carlin Family -- Immigrated ca. 1785-1797
Thanks for the suggestion, but I was unable to find any information on that site than fits my missing g+grandmother, Elizabeth Carlin, wife of John Humes. They met when they immigrated from Ireland ca. 1795 and I believe, were m. in Philadelphia and their first child, William Humes, was there b. Jan. 1800.They had 4 more children: Maria,Julia, Elizabeth and Louisa, all born in Va. Elizabeth Carlin Humes died bef. 1815, when John married his 2nd wife, Margaret Purse. I can trace John and his descendants from Va to Missouri, Idaho and Wa State, but cannot identify Elizabeth Carlin's parents or siblings.
Best clue I have is copy of a letter from an attorney in St Louis dated11 Dec 1868 sent to Joseph G. Hume--a grandson of John and Elizabeth Carlin Humes--concerning, "... an offer to compromise the Carlin will case by Mrs. Ruth E. Carlin, the widow...."
This may be the same Ruth E. Carlin:

I'd be thrilled if you've found more info that might help me find the parents and or siblings of Elizabeth Carlin Humes or have other suggestions.
