The history of Westmoerland, Cheshire Co, NH by The Westmoreland Historial Society places William briefly in that town prior to moving on to VT. Another Carlisle in that town at that time was my ancestorCapt.Daniel Carlisle b. 10/10/1738, d. 10/29/1794 (son of David)It clearly states that it is not known if there was any relationship between the two. Fast forward to the civil war. Orville and Ashley Carlisle, brothers and descendants of Daniel serve in the 2nd MI Calvary company L. Also in this same company is a William Carlisle that I cannot place. In the 2nd MI Calvary company E was Gamaliel Carlisle age 30 from Newaygo Co, andGeorge T Carlisle from Ottawa Co. I have always felt that these two families are related and that connection is probably in Scotland or Ireland. Do you have any info that might help to make a connection?
