Paternal Y DNA testing
Some of you may have questions about your CARLOCK (and variations on the name) heritage.Well if you're male, ther's an easy, painless, and for a limited time, less expensive way to find out.
I am the male line grandson of Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, yes that one.No, our line is not in his book, just that of his second wife.
I had my paternal Y DNA tested (the 37 loci method) through Ancestry.com.Until the end of the September, the price is reduced. My group is RB1, no surprises, we come from (north) western Europe. No other Carlocks in their database yet, but a 35/37 match with Keiseler/Keslers coming from Pfalzgraf Germanyabout 7 generations ago.It takes about 16 generations to change a single locus through mutation, so it will be interesting to see where we fit into other lineages.
C'mon guys, give the milkman a few willies, get the test, see where you fit.Unless my parents were fibbers, your DNA will exactly match mine.Probably even if you are a Gerlach, etc.But other testers may not be compatible with Ancestry.com results.
There may be some legal reasons why you might ensure that your results are confidential, read the small print.
The maternal test is interesting but not nearly so definitive for name tracing.
Reed Carlock [Lockwood is my adopted surname]
