Re: Carlow, Sylvanus died 1855 Pa
Hi!I research my grandmother's fathers family of Carlow's.So far this is what I have.Family rumor has it that the Carlo-Carlow's were orig. from Spain and when the Armada wrecked they settled in Ireland and from there to Canada and USA.How true, I don't know until I get facts.
I do have Sylvester Carlow born early 1800.I have about 4 Sylvesters so it's confusing! From what I can tell it is possible that Sylvester #1 could've been in the St. Catharines, Lincoln, Ontario area and married either a Elizabeth McGee and/or a Mary Kelleher, recorded is a daughter, Elizabeth to a Elizabeth mcGee and Sylvester Carlow.THEN, in Warren PA, Warren County, he shows up and fathered: Sylvester #2 about 1858-9, Margaret 1863-4, Hannah abt. 1860 and a dau unknown that married a Gaffney.
I also show a William and a James in Warren, PA but I am unsure if they are his siblings or brothers.I believe Sylvester #1 had a sister in Warren, PA, Hannah Carlow Wilcox who lived with him after his wife died.
Sylvester #2 had a son Sylvester #3 who married a Nellie Hurley from Warren and they moved to Erie, PA a job transfer for the RR.They of course had a son Sylvester who married a Sara Boden, all of Erie!
I have some Warren obits that are not very informative.
So, if these people fit into your line, let me know!
