My middle name- Kynaston

Hello,

My name is James Carlton and I live in London, England. I have been presented all my life with a quandary and that is my middle name:

kynaston

I was wondering if anybody could help me with where this very unusual name came from and is it connected with my surname. Can anybody help?

My branch of the family originated in Bedford, England in living memory and although I know the name was my great grandfathers middle name I have no idea where it came from beyond that!
