Some notes (from Fraser's history) of a Carnegie/Rennie connection ...

Thomas Rennie (d. abt 1823) (m. Hariet Moyes, d. abt 1853) "Assumed the surname Strachan upon inheriting the estate from his childless brother Alexander. In 1812 entailed the estate, to follow the death of his wife, to Captain John Carnegie, second son of Sir David Carnegie, (but for the attainder) 7th Earl of Southesk. John then prefixed the surname Rennie Strachan to his paternal surname of Carnegie, and became John Rennie Strachan Carnegie of Tarrie."
