Re: Carolans of Dunboyne, County Meath, Ireland.
My great grandfather should have read as Michael Carolan who married a Martha Gaynor and not Chris as I had stated.Unfortunately I do not know the names of Michael's parents as yet or whether he had any siblings who emigrated to the United States other than 4 of his sons whom I mention in my original message. The 10 children of this Carolan family were all born in Dollysgrove, just outside Dunboyne, Co. Meath between the years 1875 and 1896.After my great grandfather Michael died in 1906 the family bought a small cottage nearby and moved to Ballynare, Dunboyne, Co. Meath.
Was wondering if you ever came across a Matthew Carolan who emigrated from Dunboyne, Ireland to the US in 1905.He listed his destination as Pittsburgh, PA on the ship's manifest.I have no other info on him from then on - only a photo which he sent home sometime prior to 1922.It would appear that he married in the US and had a least 2 children - John & Marie Carolan.
