Accurate Rehoboth Carpenter Pedigree
Hello,
My mother's maiden name was Carpenter and I'm descended through the Ashman/Joseph James/George Carpenter line. The Carpenter CD is listed as sold out; my question then is: are there some reputable sites online listing the ancestry of William Carpenter b. 1605? I have an Ancestry account and want to get the right Carpenters in place. I've read a number of postings here and elsewhere regarding the differing families and possibilities (Abigail Briant/Abigail Searles being but one of them, and I know it's the Briant line). There are bits and pieces, here and there, and I do enjoy hunting them down, but...does someone know of a reliable Rootsweb or Ancestry source to get started? I'm hoping for some pointers around 2009 or later.
One thing - I check sources and don't just blindly copy names and dates. The BMDs have to make chronological and biological sense, if you catch my drift. I've given up on One World Tree - too many strange and totally inaccurate pedigrees cobbled together there. I've been finding individual parish records online, largely through archive.org or UK sites but it helps to know the right county.
Sorry for the rambling - and thanks for any help!
Claire K.
