George Washington " Wash" Roberts and Talithia Carroll
After searching records, wills and family trees, I am now believing that George Washington Roberts born about 1852 in North Carolina just appeared from the cabbage patch in 1880 as Wash Roberts married to Talitha Carrol listed on the North Carolina SS RR Tracks. Now saying this, it is becoming a common plight on trees that some George Washington Roberts do not have any information other than born in North Carolina. As I said to a friend, throw all the names in a bowl pick one. I am sure that someone has information on this family but just doesn't realize it yet. As the search for George goes on, we hope that one day a single piece of information will help solve the puzzle of whom his parents were.We do know that he married Talitha Carrol, daughter of Lydia Williams Carrol and Stephen L. Carrol. This family is also associated with CATES, BOWERS, RILEY, CHEEK families most located in the same area. Some moved west stopping in Georgia. As I told my friend it is very possible that George came to Georgia because of family living here.Talitha's mother, brother and daughters all moved to Walker County, Georgia in between 1880 and 1900. It is still a mystery what happen to Talitha Carrol Roberts, the children married and also raised their siblings in Walker County, Georgia.George disappeared until we find his death in February 1930. WE also found his daughter Katie Roberts Webb had died in January 1920 living small children. George put in his will that one child of Katie Roberts Webb, Clemmie E. Webb was to receive money from his estate. Now the search for information that anyone can provide on this family or descendants. We need to discover who George's parents were, we could just close our eyes and pick one since so many George W. Roberts existed. I hope someone can help.
