Carrubba's from Biscari, Siracusa, Sicily
My grandmother was a Carrubba. She was Gaetana Carrubba and came to the US in 1913 through Ellis Island. She went to Chicago, Illinois to live with her brother, Alfredo Carrubba, who came over in 1905.They were from Biscari, province of Siracusa, Sicily.Their parents names were Francesco Carrubba and Vincenza Sallemi.
Gaetana married Giuseppi (Joseph) Quirino in 1915, and after her death in 1921, Joe and the 3 children moved to Los Angeles, CA.The Children were:Mary Josephine, Vincenza (Jennie) and John.
Alfredo stayed in Chicago and had several children:Vincenza (Jennie) and Christina (Tina) are the two I am familiar with. They married brother named Post and settled in Iowa.I did not meet any other members of the Carrubba family other than these two and Jennie is gone now.
Anyway, if anyone has information on that Carrubba line I would appreciate hearing from you.
If you check out the Ellis Island Site be sure and look under maiden names also..my great-grandmother Quirino was listed under Villone (her maiden name) along with the 8 children who accompanied her here in 1904.So I had to look up Villone to verify my Quirino family information. My Carrubba's were listed under the correct name though.
