Re: John Carter, Deerfield Mass. 1704
You've blown me away with the statement "John's two Indian boys" which I have seen also in your prior mails. The only thing I have come across which could be interpreted that way is John's visit to Ebenezer in 1751 "together with two Frenchmen, sons of a daughter of old Mr. Thomas French".
Ebenezer and John's sister Mercy married an Indian at Caughnawaga and had at least two sons who in 1751 visited their Uncle Ebenezer Carter at New Canaan.
According to a July 22, 1882 article in "The Messenger" at New Canaan by Adolphus F. Carter, "The bearers herof, two of the sons of Mercy Carter, an English woman, taken captive at Deerfield, Anno 1703 etc." signed by Wm. Pitkin and John Chester.
To my knowledge, John Carter was baptized Jean Joseph Chartier in Canada and married Marie Courtemanche.
