13 Feb 1833 WOOD, John S3613 NC SC of Jackson Co TN Applicant again entered the service of the United States in Washington county State of North Carolina (now Tennessee) where he then resided, about the last of February or first of March 1777 as a volunteer for twelve months under Captain Joseph WILSON Lieutenant John RITCHEY Ensign Adam WILSON Colonel Commandant CARTER, Lieutenant Colonel John SEVIER, Majr WALTON and Major WAMMACK and was stationed in WILSONs fort in said county where he remained guarding the fort under said officers and occasionally scouting thru the country adja-cent to said fort.He remained at the fort under said officers until about the last of February or first of March 1778 when his term of service having expired he was discharged p5 byCaptain WILSON which discharge is lost. There was no other regiment but the one to which applicant belonged. Applicant served out his full term of twelve months During said term Colonel CARTER died and Colonel SEVIER took command of the Regiment. No regular officers with the troops where applicant served.
