Hello! This is a very interesting story. My cousin had mentioned to me a similar story about the Casanova's arriving from the Canary Islands and settling in Hatillo. Donate is actually the name of a "barrio" in Hatillo where my family lives. It's called "Sector Donate". My grandmother who's in still alive yet in frail health has got to know the story behind this. Her name is Rosa Casanova Lopez. Her husband is Ramon Padilla Casanova. He passed away back in 1996. Most of the Casanova family still live in Hatillo and I always visit there since my Dad still lives there too. You and I must be 3rd maybe 4th cousins once removed? You can find me on FaceBook too. I have lots of our Casanova relatives listed. Just search for "Raymond Casanova".
