Pat........I found some more info on Casjens that I didn't know if you already have, so will post here. In the Effingham Co., Bishop Township, Illinois 1870 census it lists H. Casjens age 52, Fenty age 57, Crene age 24, Elseha age, 21, Leucha age 18 & Eilt age 14. The ages coincide with what I have for birth dates for the children. The census was taken July 28, 1870. My Great Grandma Elsie was born on Sept. 8, 1849.Also, I had a look-up for Casjens tombstone inscriptions for Bishop Township. The lady didn't find anything on Casjens but was nice enough to look it up in her book of "Effingham Co. Marriages 1833-1877". She found Krine H. Casjens and Lina H. Garretts married on July 29, 1871. Bk. B. p. 19. The marriage took place in Effingham Co. The minister was G. W. Fenstel. She said that she knew of others who were married by him; therefore she believes he was a Lutheran minister. Also, I found that Elsie's oldest daughter Anna Hillmes was born in Illinois. That gives me a time frame. This from the Owl Creek Township, Woodson Co., Kansas 1920 census. She was born in 1875. So, I guess Elsie was still in Illinois in 1875. She supposedly also lived in George, Iowa. It must have been for a short time because her daughter Kate was born in Kansas. I don't know about her other children. I do know Grandma (Margaret Hillmes) was born in Kansas. She was one of the younger children. I would like to find out where Elsie's parents are buried.
