Mr. Jones:
I am a direct descendant of Reverend George R. Cason (1870 - 1936) and his wife, Minnie Jones (1873-1934), all of the Belton, Honea Path, SC areas.
I had the pleasure of interviewing one of Reverend Cason's children in Belton, SC, shortly before her death in 2007.He had 13 children and raised 15 others. She told me that George's father was also named George and insisted that Mary Rice was Reverend George's mother. She also stated that George's father died shortly before his birth in about 1871.
My family did visit Uncle Vance Cason and his wife Sula a number of times before his death and I was always told this was an older brother of George.Mary Cason was mentioned a number of times but I am wondering if this was in fact Mary Rice, Reverend George's grandmother and not his sister.I have Max Cason as the youngest son of Reverend George.
I also have many Cason photos that I cannot identify, including a great Cason reunion photo from about 1922 with over 100 Casons, but can only identify my father and Reverend George.
Any information you have on this family would be appreciated.F. Connor Cason, 8414 Darcy Hopkins Drive, Charlotte, NC 28277
