Cason Families of Abbeville County, SC
Article found in Newspaper Abstracts From “The Abbeville Press & Banner” Abbeville, SC, for June 1870.Newspaper Issue of Friday, June 24, 1870:
DIED, in the village, at the advanced age of over eighty years, Mr. Josias (possibly Josiah) Cason, at the residence of his son Mr. H.S. CASON the Sheriff of the district. He was one of a long lived family, his brother Mr. James CASON of our district, being still surviving, a hale and hearty may of over ninety winters. The deceased was a good citizen, a man of estimable character and highly respected by all who know him.He leaves many friends and relatives to deplore his loss.
If this James Cason is the same as my James Cason, Sr. (b. 1778) (ggggf) in Edgefield, SC (close to Abbeville County) married Mary Deal or (Deale) (b. 1774) VA.Possible children: Braxton Cason (b. about 1810), Benjamin A. Cason (one of my 3rd great-grandfathers) (b. about 1812), James Cason Jr. (b. 1826), it may be the connection on these CASON Families that I have long suspected.
