JOSIAH and MATILDA HENDERSON CASON

By Teresa Gunter July 05, 2012 at 08:05:10

Looking For info on JOSIAH CASON b. 1787 d. 1870 Abbeville County S.C. and his wife MATILDA HENDERSON CASON. Trying to determine if Matilda died in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, (she is enumerated on the 1850 census there) or in Abbeville S.C. Josiah is enumerated on the 1860 census in the household of their son HENRY SMITH CASON and his wife MARY JANE COWEN, with no Matilda.
By the 1870 census Josiah has died(June) and his son Henry has Josiah's brother JAMES CASON b. 1778 living with him. James is enumerated twice on the 1870 census, once in July living with his daughter in law Amelia, widow of James son Benjamin, and then apparently after Josiah dies he moves in with Henry (enumerated a month later in August).James was married to Mary Deale daughter of Alexander Deale and his wife Margaret Lawrence. James and Mary Cason are both mentioned in Mary's brother James Deale's will probated in 1836)as is James and Mary's son, James Jr.
On the 1810 Census for Abbeville County, there is Larkin Cason spelled "Caison" on the census and on the same page as Richard Henderson, Matilda Henderson's father. Was he a brother to Josiah and James? Records have him being born 1776 which would make him too young to be he father of James or Josiah.

Thanks for any input!
Teresa
