The 1880 census of Waushara County, Wisconsin, lists the following people:
Philip Cassidy, age 62, farmer, born in Ireland
Rosa Cassidy, wife, age 62, born in Ireland
George Cassidy, son, age 33, farm work, born in Rhode Island
Frank Cassidy, son, age 21, farm work, born in Wisconsin
John Cassidy, grandson, age 7, born in Wisconsin
On April 1, 1856, Philip obtained a patent for 40 acres in Waushara County, in the community of Poy Sippi.
I also have information that George Cassidy, an unmarried man, died September 12, 1894, aged 38 years. Born in Rhode Island, he served as a private in Co. E 146th Ill. Inft. enlisting in 1864; he served until the close of the war.I do not know why he served in an IL unit rather than a WI unit.
I am a descendant of Frank Cassidy, b. 1859, who married Julia, b. 1869.They lived in Poy Sippi, Waushara County, and had 4 children:Joseph, b. 1890; Francis, b. 1892; George, b. 1895; and Myrtle, b. 1897.Joseph was my grandfather.
Are there any Cassidy cousins out there who have information on this part of the clan?
