I just ran across this site and found it very interesting. I was going through some old papers from my mom's estate, and found discharge papers for Samuel Catherwood, I decided to see if I could find anything else on him tonight and ran across this old message. I have visited his grave many times in the Riggs cemetery. My uncle Gene Billingsly has maintained that cemetery for years. My grandpa was Josh Billingsly, (Josh was a nickname, I am thinking Henry David?).He and my grandma, Elizabeth Wallace Billinsgly, lived near the Riggs place for many years.Margaret was his line, I believe his mother, but am not for sure. The time period would be about right.Grandpa Josh died in 1967 at about age 60 or 61, which would make him born about 1907.From what I understand, when Samuel was wounded, he was deeded land in Ozark county, near Hammond/Thornfield, Isabella. The girls were Lyda (Lynda, can't make out writing) E, born April (?), 1875 Margaret born Nov. 10th, 1877 Lucinda, bron Dec. 31, 1879 One daugther married a Riggs, one a Billingsly, and can't remember who the other one married. They split the land between the three daughters, if I have that right. The land was sold off over the years, anyway the Billingsly part.I think the Riggs part is still in their family. One section of the original land on top of the ridge was bought by my uncle Gene, and I beleive my aunt Judy might own another section. I didn't know that the Catherwoods came from Ireland.I had not heard that. Does anyone know more about the Billingsly that married Margaret?I believe David.
