Letter from Henry Hardy Catron 6

"The earliest record I have on the Catron spelling is:=Draper MSS (3QQ34) Lord Dunsmore's War, List of Robert Doack's Co., of the Virginia Militia, June 2, 1774. The following members were enrolled:-Francis, Jacob, Jacob, Adam, Phillip, Peter and Michael Catron.These were known to be Kettenrings by birth. They later changed their names to Catron to get their pensions."
Note. The only one who lived long enough to get his pension was Peter Catron, father of Judge John Catron of the United States Supreme Court.(L>T> Ketron.
