I've been working on the Catterton family for many years and have been trying to put the pieces together about the early Cattertons of Maryland. This is what I know about the Michael Cattertons of Maryland. There were four of them. Most of Calvert County records were destroyed in two fires. There are court records (probates, inventories, will, land records -tax rolls-juror, etc.) availble in Annapolis for the early days of Maryland. this is where I am finding most of my information. some of these records just list a name and nothing more. So it's like putting together a puzzle. I had the same problems you did with the dates when I first started. The Catterton Book really does not address the early Cattertons. Hope this helps. There are still lots of questions and many inconsistencies on line in the Catterton genealogy of Calvert County.
First Michael - arrived 1659-died 1695- some online sites have birthdate of 1639 given-have not found any documentation to vertify this (Will 1695)
Second Michael - born 1674 died 1730 (Court records-iventories Rent Rolls 1714)
Third Michael Born 1722 (Court records-he provided a disposition in a case in 1770 and his age was listed as 48)
Died 1782 (Will) Michael was about 10 years old at the time of his father's death. Working on finding out where/who he was with before he became of age.
Fourth Michael Born 2/8/1761, Sold land in Maryland and relocated in Virginia in 1785. His last child was born in 1816 so I assumed he died after that date. The VA Catterton line is pretty well documented so you should be able to find his death date. Brother William, sister Gattwood, Sister Sarah Ancell also went to VA.
