Betty,

Thanks for the information on Kats in the Netherlands.I had not found any of this before.I went to Familysearch.org and found in the IGI a marriage record of Cornelis Kats and Johanna Fonser on 28 Jan 1825 in Dirksland, Zuid Holland, Netherlands (near Ouddorp).

Their children:
1. Jacob KATS - International Genealogical Index CE
Gender: M Birth: 1 Feb 1825 Dirksland, Zuid Holland, Netherlands

2. Cornelia KATS - International Genealogical Index CE
Gender: F Birth: 26 Sep 1826 Dirksland, Zuid Holland, Netherlands

3. Hendrika KATS - International Genealogical Index CE
Gender: F Birth: 25 Oct 1830 Dirksland, Zuid Holland, Netherlands

My question: how did you determine that the above Jacob Kats is the one who emigrated to USA, Ottawa Co., Michigan and married (1) Neeltje Broekman and (2) Johanna Hubrecht?

By the way, the IGI also has a Johanna FONSER
Sex: F
Christening: 14 Feb 1802 Ouddorp, Zuid Holland, Netherlands

Parents:
Father: Izaak FONSER
Mother: Geertrij DE RUITER
