I have great doubts that our families are linked unless through Canada or France. Albert Cavalier, my gr. grandfather was born in 1806 and his elder brother in 1804. Joseph and Mary Demars Cavalier(Albert's parents) and family were refugees during the war of 1812.They made there way from Presque Isle (Toledo) to Fort Stephenson in Lower Sandusky (Fremont)in February, 1813.They died there before Aug. 1,1813. Albert and his brother and sister were raised by aunts and uncles in the Sandusky and Ottawa County area.John faded into history but was only 12 when your Charles died. You mentioned Clark City, Ohio. This town is in Holmes County. I have found Cavaliers in Clark County but not in Holmes. I believe that the Clark County Cavaliers were your ancesters.I have never been able to find a link to them. In the 1880 Census there was an Iserelda Cavalier in Springfield,Clark County, Ohio. The children living with her were Charles (27), Alfred (18), Florence(10) Mary (25) and a son-in-law Edward Middleton (31).
I have a letter from you dtd. 8-18-98 stating "Charles T. Cavileer of Kent Cty Md. was a sailor ... his ancestors were of Huguenot desent probably driven out by religious persicutions.Ancestors were from Alsace France."
I trace my ancestors back to Cherbourg Normandy France in about 1600 with their religion being Catholic.
I may be wrong, but as of now all my information points to 'No were are not from the same family, at least back to 1600'
