Elizabeth,
You are probably aware that Caroline's sister, Nicoline, [wife of John Halvorson] died in Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa in 1905 at the age of 59].When I interviewed my Uncle Matthew Wallace Richmond [1899-1982] in the early 1960's relative to our Caver's ancestry, he related the facts of Adam and Caroline Caver's world travels, etc.He recalled that his aunt Cary had visited him and his parents on the family farm in Armstrong Grove township several times, when he was a young lad, and seemed to have a fond respect for the lady, as she would give him shinny new coins each time she came.During my interview with him, I asked him for the maiden name of Caroline. He paused and thought for a considerable period of time and came up with the name of "Halvorson".Now we know, this is not true, but I find it interesting that he would name the name of Caroline's sister's husband.I have no date relative to the death of John Halvorson, but it is just a thought, but perhaps Caroline married [a third time] to her late sisters widow.Perhaps we should be looking for Caroline Halvorson in Emmet County.Good hunting.
Regards,
Jim
