Hi Claudia! How interesting!I'm a Chaffee living in Woodstock, VT, and never knew there were other Chaffee's here!Elizabeth, however, is from a different line than mine, splitting off in late 1600s.
Maybe you've already found out your info, but here is information is from 'The Chaffee Genealogy' pub. 1909 by William H. Chaffee, available to read online @ googlebooks, I think, if you can't find a copy.
Elizabeth, b. 1783 in Woodstock, Vt; d. in Rochester, NY.Her parents were James Chafee, Jr. (his spelling) b. March 22, 1748 in Woodstock, MA (now CT); d. May 22, 1827 in Churchville, NY; m. Sarah Howlett, b. Sept.9, 1753.He was baptized in the First congregational Church of Woodstock, My 1, 1748.He served as a Private in the Revolution, spelling his name at that time "Chaffee".Later, he changed the spelling to "Chafee".He probably moved from Woodstock, CT to Woodstock, VT between 1779 and 1781. James and Sarah had eight children, Elizabeth being the fourth. Her line can be traced back to 1635, when Thomas Chaffe arrived in America.
