I've been looking in the archives of this Board, and it looks like a lot of good information was posted between 10 to 15 yrs. ago...I was wondering if anyone has any current, or updated information on Thomas CHAMBERLAIN, b~1615 in England.
I've been looking on-line for several days for information on this Thomas, and there looks to be a lot of missing information on him.
First, he seems to have had at least 3 wives, possibly a 4th, but on-line they don't seem to be in the correct order. There was wife, Mary NEWTON, possibly 1644 MA, there was a Mary JONES?, possibly 1654, and there was a Mary PARKER, who I've just read was a widow, Mrs. Mary PARKER - and that marriage possibly 1674, was her 4th marriage.
Most agree that Thomas and Mary (NEWTON?) had a son, Samuel CHAMBERLAIN, b1645 in Woburn, MA.Some think there was also a daughter, Anna, and a son, Thomas.
If he had 3 or 4 wives, were there more children that are not being mentioned on-line?
(The William CHAMBERLAIN in Billerica had more than a dozen children.)
The Samuel, b1745, seems to have married Elizabeth EMERSON.And they had a son, Samuel, b1685 Chelmsford. This Samuel also seems to have had 3 or 4 wives.Ones mentioned were Anna GILSON, then Mrs. Rebecca (WILDER) WHITCOMB(not Rebecca WILDER), then possibly a Sibyl ROPER.Rebecca had her 2nd marriage to Samuel.
It is said that this Samuel had 6 children with Anna, then 4 children with Rebecca.I am descended from Samuel and Rebecca's daughter, Rebecca, b~1727.She married Joseph KIDDER of Chelmsford and Westford, MA.Several books and records have that Rebecca as"Rebecca Wilder CHAMBERLAIN," but that is wrong. That was her mother's name.Joe KIDDER's wife was Rebecca CHAMBERLAIN.
