Re: Charpies, Switz to USA - Welcome Message
Just found this forum after recently learning of the alternate spellings and origins for my "Sherpy" line.Until just a few months ago I had reached a dead end. Thanks for your efforts.
My line is as follows:
Charles Henri Charpie - 1796-1883
William Franklin Sherpy, b. 28 Jun 1848, m. Phoebe Watson, d. 29 Dec 1933
W. F. and Phoebe had the following children:
Bertha Clementine Sherpy, b. July 06, 1877
Roy Franklin Sherpy, b. September 1879
Fanny Evelyn Sherpy, b. October 15, 1882
Laura Lorene Sherpy, b. September 29, 1884
Talford Watson Sherpy, b. August 08, 1887
Herbert Merton Sherpy, b. September 03, 1891
At some point, William Franklin Sherpy moved to MN, where all his children were born.He then moved with some of his family to Woodward Co., OK around 1900, where he homesteaded and lived the remainder of his years. At least 4 of his children made the move with him, Talford, Bertha, Laura and Herbert, as they show up in land & census records beginning in 1910.
On Jan 27, 1903, Laura Lorene Sherpy, my grandmother, m. Robert Leonard Bauer, a man 12 yrs her senior who had also moved to Woodward Co., OK & homesteaded within 2 miles of Wm Sherpy.
Laura Sherpy Bauer died when my father was 17, so I never knew her and never learned any Sherpy family history until just a few years ago.It has been very rewarding to find information, thanks to the efforts of people like you!
