I know it was a zillion and a half years ago that you wrote me this... I did try to respond at the time, but the computer hung up, and I was heavily involved in research for a different line, so I promptly forgot.... until...
Last night I got a marvellous letter from another Chasco descendent, who reignited the path for me... and matches up closely to the information you have as well.
"Around 1860, Michael ?a?ko lived in the village of Tu?ice (pronounced too-shi-tsa)in Zemplinska province of eastern Slovakia. He sired seven brothers that all emigrated to the USA around the 1880s or 1890s.Paul Chasko was one of the brothers and he married Susan Kuszma.Their children were Andrew, Paul, Helen Schrock, Mary Girman, Ann Roman (may be a second marriage)"
So, based on what you're saying about the location that was the origin of your Chascos (and the naming conventions), it strikes me that we might have a connection!
Write if you get the chance and you're still interested.I'd love to learn more.
