CHASE, Provincetown, Mass.

I am trying to find more information on my GG Grandfather, Frank F CHASE. His birthplace listed on different census records as Massachusetts or Portugal. I have a copy of his son's birth certificate, Alfred F Chase,born Mar 8, 1890, Provincetown, MA. Parents listed as Frank F Chase and Jennie Corbachog.
Today searching FamilySearch.org I found a record for Alfred F. Rogers, born Mar 8, 1890, Provincetown, MA, parents Frank F. Rogers and Jennie Corbachoz. So now I am curious to know if my GG Grandfather was Frank F Rogers and changed his name at some point to Frank F Chase? How would I find out if this was the case? Or is it just a weird coincidence?
Any advice appreciated.
