Wiliwni!Your information is very helpful.I have had doubts about many stated facts. The only reason I didn't discard the'other native wife' assumption is due to my inexperience...I thought perhaps they knew something I didn't :).Since I had no feedback (until now), I let it stand.
I actually think that Marie Madeleine Reaume was Amable's mother. His death record states he was 80 when he died (April 17, 1833), and the birth of Louis' and Marie-Magdeleine's first son was October 11, 1751 (1742 was a typo--the baptism record is from 1752, as I'm sure you know).I also think Amable was sometimes called Louison.I don't think this unusual, because their culture often had different names for different purposes.Amable/Aimable appears to be his everyday French name.Louison/Louis appeared to be what the English called him (at least, sometimes). He was called Pawquakoman (Pakwakona) in his role as Ottawa chief, and as an elder, he was called Pikidjissak. It appears he might have had other names too.He was definitely a French-speaking Catholic. He definitely was a trader, interpreter, a military man and a chief of various levels.
--1783 James Perlier of Montreal, is employed at St. Croix by an old trader, (III)-Pierre Grignon (b-1740). Other traders of this period are Dickson's and Renville, trading among the Ojibwa and Dakota of Minnesota. Charles (Judge) Reaume and Amable Chevalier, Metis, are also at St. Croix. http://www.telusplanet.net/public/dgarneau/metis29.htmhttp://www.telusplanet.net/public/dgarneau/metis29.htm
--143. Amable Chevalier was an Ottawa chief from western Michigan, employed as an interpreter, but now with his warriors on the war-path. The family of Chevaliers are quite numerous. In Vol. I of the cumulative index, Chevalier is incorrectly placed under A as Amable. He was the son of Louis Chevalier a merchant at St. Joseph, and was a Court Oreille, which means Ottawa. He assisted at the capture of Mackinac.

I could go on :), but I don't know what you already have. There is one interesting thing that I am just exploring: it appears Louis' Chevalier's son, Louison, might have sided with the Spanish briefly, perhaps in retaliation for his father's imprisonment.Yet, something is off...the risk involved, I guess...he was just starting to build a good reputation in his work with the English.I have to look further to see where he was at the time. But, given the description of Louis' part in it, it appears to fit him.
As far as the genealogical part of it goes, I am trying to place his daughter's husband in the picture.Given the Chevaliers' status at the time, I assume that Marie-Louise would marry "well".Francois Odjick was a war-chief, but I can't find any reference to him before his marriage. The best guess, so far, is that he was related to the Pottawatomie family of Waub Ojeeg. One of Francois' sons was Waubanobeeg (8abanibik), and one of his grandsons was Cabodjeeg (Cabodjik).Francois oldest son was Amable SimonPakwakona Odjick who was father to Simon Odjick, chief at Kitigan Zibi.
Amable is my kids' 7th great-grandfather through Marie-Louise Chevalier-Odjick.
