After stalling in my reply several times due to information overload :p, I decide the best way to go is to put Amable's stuff into order (time and place) and then compare the other references. Not an easy feat for me.In fact, I wondered if you would like to collaborate.I am good at finding stuff.I am not so good at organization.Like you, I have no problem with full disclosure.

You'll note my e-mail attached to my messages--drop me a line if you would like to view my file on him.I tried to send you Amable's death record (using the e-mail attached to your messages), but everything bounced back.

Regardless , I'll start by asking questions:

The Louis Chevalier Claim:

http://mifamilyhistory.org/mimack/places/origlandclaims/ChevalierLouis.asphttp://mifamilyhistory.org/mimack/places/origlandclaims/ChevalierLouis.asp

Two things caught my eye--the date of the claim, and the date he "left" the area.My question is: is the Louis Chevalier of this claim known? It is unlikely that this claim belonged to Therese or Paschal--1823-1833 would make them 100+ years old. And, of course, Louis Therese was removed from this area and never allowed to return. The reason I am considering it, as far as Amable is concerned, is the 1833 date--he died that year at Oka.

Don Luis Chevalier and the Invasion of Fort St.Joseph by Spain:

(You can drag the page up and down, and you can click the blue "next" to see where Luis is highlighted in the book.)

After a quick look through my notes, I didn't find Amable reported in any conflicting time or place, so this is a consideration.Do you have enough knowledge of the Odawa/Pottawatomi occupants at that time to place the names: Niquigen/Nakioun and Eleturno?

I started to go through a badly done transcript of the Chevalier references in the Halimond papers, but it will take more time than I have right now to sort the Sr and Jr out (I don't know enough about the context the letters are framed by).Using the references under Amable (Aimable) Chevalier found in the Michigan Historical Society index, I looked up each corresponding page.I think most are actually about his father--not him.

Chevalier, Amable (Amiable), Ottawa chief, interpreter, 386, 549, 553, 554, 560, 581, 585, 597; denounced for treachery, 543, 545; discharged by General Haldimand, 576; investigation had, 569; loyalty commended, 397.
Chevalier, Louison, son of Chevalier, St. Joseph, 354, 581

Do you have the CDrom or the data of the CDrom of Oka BMD records from L'Announciation pre-1821 (by Ellen Paul)? If so, can you share any Amable/Pakwakona and Francois/Marie-Louise Odjik's entries with me?I can exchange post-1821 to 1899.

That's enough questions for today :)
