Re: David Isaac Chidlow b. Eng > Aus > USA
I'm so glad that you contacted me.I've been communicating with your cousin, Jim LeClair by Instant Message lately.
I don't remember hearing from you before, but if you e-mailed me recently, for the past few weeks I've been in Washington State, South Carolina and will be traveling to Wisconsin in a few days because my grandmother (Alice Kober Vandekieft) passed away. Our family held services in South Carolina and will be having another in Milwaukee, WI where she will be buried.
I've received a family heirloom that I'm trying to learn more about. It's a ring that my grandmother received from her mother-in-law, Rosa Lenore Chidlow Vandekieft (Isabelle Chidlow LeClaire's sister). My suspicion is that the ring was either Rosa Lenore's mother's ring (Minnie McLean Chidlow's ring) or Minnie's mother-in-law's ring, name unknown.I'm trying to get it appraised so that someone can tell me an approximate age of the ring. It's very unique. It's a rope design with a blood-red garnet in the center.Maybe there is someone left on your side who would remember it?????
I also received a broken string of fake pearls which are said to be Minnie McLean Chidlow's pearls.I would like to have them restrung even though they aren't worth anything because they aren't real. It's the fact that they were Minnie's that counts.
I would love to correspond with you.I'm anxious to hear back.I have many many unanswered questions about our family that perhaps your side might have a few more clues to.
