Searching for family links to Chisholm's of Malignant Cover
My grandfather Donald William Chisholm [B:1878] was the son of James William Chisholm & Catherine Chisholm of Antigonish. He sailed away from home at 18 to the UK never to see his family again. He did not speak of his family nor leave any records. My research to-date has been based on family recollections and comments.
As per marriage records, James William Chisholm [B:abt1850?] was the s/o Donald Chisholm and Ann Rorety (Doherty?). He was first married to a Catherine McLellan who died after the birth of Mary A Chisholm in 1874. He then married a Catherine Chisholm in 1875, the mother of my grandfather. I have identified a brother Joseph {B: abt 1859] m/t Hannah MacDonald and a sister Martha [B:1867 D:1905] together with other siblings that generally link in to census records and details listed under the chapter Genealogies: The Clan Chisholm and Chisholm's of Malignant Cove in the book "A History of the County Of Antigonish, Nova Scotia".
Other feedback based of census research, reading of the relevant chapter {it mentions that Donald s/o Patrick was married to a Bay Chaleur Lady] and searches to establish place of birth for Ann Doherty [Rorety] suggests our family line seems most likely linked to an Alexander Chisholm and Ann MacInnis who arrived in Nova Scotia form Strathglass in early 18th or 19th century.
I am looking for any information about this family line and its possible links with my grandfather.
