Edward Choate & Elizabeth Cole are buried in the Choate Cemetery just north of Cookeville. Stone has Edward as 79 & Elizabeth 74. No dates. According to info I have Edward died 08/29/1894 & Elizabeth died 11/25/1896. Their children were Mary Ann, Nancy, Naomi. William, Sarah Elizabeth (my ancestor), Martha Lurany (Patsy), Manerva, Prudence Melvina, Edward & Eliza. Edward was son of Austin & Oma Pyburn Choate. Austin is believed to be son of Austin Sr. who was son of Christopher, who was son of Christopher who is believed to be son of the first Christopher who came to Maryland in 1676. A Choate book has these but they are not proven. Oma Pyburn's parents are a mystery even though a Fentress County history has an Edward Pyburn as father in law of Austin Choate but with all the research I have done on Pyburns I have not found anything to verify this. Elizabeth Cole, I believe is sister of James who m Rachel Choate, Edward's sister. I believe their father is Anderson Cole & mother may be Polly Dollar. Anderson came from Orange Co. NC & may be the son of Samuel Cole. Have not been able to tie them in proofwise. Austin & Oma Pyburn were claimed as 1/2 & full Cherokee respectively by several members of the family living in 1906 for treaty monies but were all rejected for lack of proof, I also descend from Austin through his daughter Sally (sister of Edward) who had illegitimate son named Meadow.
