Re: Christopher Choate
Thank you for your posting regarding the early Texas Christopher Choate.I have wondered about him for a long time.I descended from Seborne Choate (1850 Harrison Co., Tx. Census.)He is believed to be another son of the Christopher Choate, b. 1775 of Fentress Co., Tn. and wife, Nancy.
The Christopher Choate who died in McNairy Co., Tn. was the Rev. War soldier.According to the DAR papers, he had wife Pruedence, and some of the DAR records cite Washington Co., Tn. records regarding Christopher Choate and wife, Pruedence.Anyway, it is believed by several researchers that the Christopher Choate of Washington Co., Tn. is the ancestor of the christopher Choate of Fentress Co. and isnot believed to be the same as the Rev. War Soldier.
Anyway, what I am trying to say is that there are TOO many Christophers.Seborne of Harrison Co., Texas also had a Christopher and according to Christopher's Civil War papers had a brother named Hamp Choate.
Also, according tothe (DAR and McNairy Co., Tn. Christopher) .Christopher Choate's pension records which gave a detailed list of places he lived didn't come to Texas.
