Swenors from Vermont

Hi, I'm not sure if this information will be helpful or not, but I have in my family tree a Francis Chouinard married to Cynthia Gerard who was a cooper and moved from Canada (I haven't found out where) to Boonton/Patterson New Jersey. They had children Francis (Frank), Louis, Cynthia, Henry, Joseph (my great great grandfather), Elmer or Alomer depending on the census, and Harriet Swenor. Most of the census records say that the children were born in NJ, but they aren't on earlier census records and one of them says they were born Canada. I've been trying to track the family before 1870. Cynthia's father Joseph Gerard has a possible census match in 1860 in Essex NY with a daughter Harriet (which is one of his granddaughters names) but there's no sign of the rest of the family though I've noted other Swenor families listed in NY and Vermont mainly. I don't think that our Franks are a match but I thought it was worth posting since the NJ connection because I haven't found any other NJ Chouinard/Swenor/Swenords.
If anyone has any information on this family I would love to hear back from you.
Best,
Kate
