Walter Chrisman, age 8, born 1872 MO is listed as nephew in the household of Richard O. Kelly, age 49 born KY and wife Amerilis Dehoney Bowers, age 50 born Ky in the 1880 Kansas Censue, Morris Co., Council Grove Twp.Walter's father is Edward Pennington Chrisman (1835 MO - 1919 MO)but I am not sure about the mother.Edward married in 1856 to Susan Hightower and they had a daughter Mary born 1859.Because Susan is not listed with Edward after the 1860 Census, nor do I find the daughter Mary after that date, I believe they both died before 1870. In 1870 Jackson Co.,MO Census, living next door to the Richard Kelly's is E P Chrisman with Martha age 19 which is possibly a new (young) wife and the mother of Walter born 1872, but here again I do not find Martha Chrisman after the 1870 census. I have not been able to locate death date nor burial place for Susan Hightower Chrisman, daughter Mary, nor the Martha Chrisman listed on the 1870 census.Edward P., his son Walter and daughter in law, Mattie Ann Kreeger Chrisman are buried in the Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery, Lee's Summit, MO.I have not been able to figure out how Walter Chrisman could have been a nephew to either Richard Kelly or Amerilis Dehoney Bowers Kelly. The 1870 Martha Chrisman age matches age of Martha Bowers, daughter of Amerilus Dehoney and her first husband Jonathan Bowers whom she married in 1846. He died before 1860.this would make a connection to the 1880 Kelly's but I can't come up with "nephew".Can anyne help?By the way,Edward Pennington Chrisman is son of Abraham Chrisman and Susan Pennington.
