Abiography/family history of Harris J. Christenson, Scobey, MT, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 1101.Father: Ole Christenson, born Barum, Norway, about 7 miles from Christiana, and as a young man came to the US and worked as a laborer in factories. After his marriage in Wisconsin, he moved to Minnesota and took up a homestead. He died at Milan, MN, at age 73. Mother: Annie Peterson, a native of Norway, daughter of Arna Peterson; she died in 1907.Children of Ole and Annie Christenson: Carl and August (Milan, MN), Mrs. T. Johnson (Milan, MN), Harris J., Albert (Minot, ND), Hannah (Montividio, MN), Mrs. Otto Booth (Ray, ND), Louis (a farmer at Minot, ND), Otto (Milan, MN).
Harris was educated in Milan, MN, and at age 28 entered in business with his brother, August, in the hardware and implement business firm of Christenson Brothers in Milan, MN.In 1909, he acquired a homestead about two miles from the new town of Scobey and set up residence there in March 1910.After four years, the family moved into Scobey and Harris began dealing in real estate and farm loans.
At Milan, MN, 31 Mar 1902, Harris married Miss Olive Peterson, born August 1880, Barnum, Norway, and in 1883 came to the US with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Peterson.She grew up in Wisconsin and as a young woman she moved to Minnesota where she was soon afterward married. Her sisters are Matie (Mrs. John Peterson, Montevidio, MN), Mary (Mrs. Otto Olson, Michigan, ND).
Christenson children: Cuyla, Adaline, Chester (died at age 4).
