David, Ephraim and Agnes Clanton were minor sons of Richard Clanton, deceased 1750 Surry County, Va.They had an older brother named Richard also.Richard, David and Ephraim went to Granville, North Carolina by 1761, and by 1770 they began migrating south to Camden, South Carolina.David there by 1770, Ephraim and Richard by 1781.Do not know what became of Agnes. When the father, Richard Clanton, died in 1750, David chose John Clanton (my ancestor) as his guardian.John was his uncle.Ephraim chose Ralph McGee.I had wondered why Ephraim chose him, but if you have records showing Ralph married Ann Clanton in 1738 that would answer the why.The 1738 marriage date seems a little early to be a sister of Ephraim (as he was born after that date to qualify as a minor in 1750), but it fits the right age to be an aunt.As David chose his uncle John Clanton, it seems Ephraim may have chose his uncle Ralph McGee. The will of Mary Clanton in 1751 names her children as John, William, Nathaniel, daughter Wiggins and "other daughters" who are not named. It would be my "suspicion" that if Ralph McGee married Ann Clanton that she could be one of the "other daughters". I would like to be in contact with you so I could send more info (too much to write here) and would also like to know more about Ann Clanton and Ralph McGee.Please feel free to e-mail me firstname.lastname@example.orgThanks. Tom Goldrup.
