My maiden name is Clanton. I am the daughter of Otis Clanton and Jane Mullins Burton Clanton and grand-daughter of Ottis Clanton and Minnie Lee Wilkins Clanton. I know that Ottis was born in 1900 in Milton County Georgia which became part of Fulton County in 1936 and that Minnie died of TB during the depression and her mother was Bedie Ann Brand Wilkins. I can find what I believe to be Ottis's family in the 1900 census, but he was apparently not yet born so - no documentation. In the 1910 census all of the family except the oldest brother, Ephraim, called Eif seemed to have disappeared. Eif was 18, married with a 1 1/2 year old child living with in-laws in 1910. Ottis was one of 7 boys who lived to be adults. They had a sister who died as a child. I believe her name was Alice, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure of all 7 of the boys' names. I am sure that there was Ottis, William, Ephraim, Greer, Henry, and James (known as Jim). I have been in touch with the gentleman who does the gen for Tombstone and he feels that I do belong in that lineage, but we are not sure as to how. I was always told that my grandfather's grandmother was Cherokee. He did look it. He was tall, thin, dark skinned, and had very angular features.Almost all of this line of Clantons does have dark hair and eyes. My Dad was legally blind with nerves that never fully developed prior to his birth. However, the extent of loss was not known until he was in his late twenties. He did not serve in the military during WWII because of having only 1 joint in each of his forefingers. He did join the CCC's. before marrying my mother. I have been able to trace my Mother's family line but seem to reach an impass with my Dad's. I would appreciate any and all help and am willing to give any help that I can to others. Thank you.
