PIONEERS OF LIVINGSTON COUNTY ANSWER THE FINAL SUMMONS

Daniel Clark, a resident of Livingston county since 1859, died at his late home in this city on Thursday afternoon after a long illness. He was a native of England, having been born in Lincolnshire, March 31, 1828. he came to the United States in1853, and came directly to Illinois, stopping in Tazewell county for three years. From there he went to Woodford county and engaged in agricultural pursuits, which was his occupation, until he moved to this city about two years ago. He moved from Woodford county to Sullivan township, this county in 1859, and was one of the first settlers in that township. On May 31, 1853, he was married to Miss Harriet Turton, of his native country, she having been born December 22, 1827. Nine children were born to them, five dying in infancy, and David T. died June 10, 1890. The three surviving are Daniel A. of Colfax, Harriet E. Linn of Charlotte township and John thomas, who resides near Cullom. Mr. Clark was a member of the M.E. church, and a christian gentleman highly respected by all.
The funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, at the M.E. church at two o'clock in the afternoon, conducted by Rev. Charles FitzHenry, and the interment will be at the Chatsworth cemetery.
