I think Cluchey/Cluche/Clukey may have been Cloutier/Clouthier in French Canada [Prov. of Quebec].Other names with the 'tier' ending that got corrupted are:
Pelletier/Peltier - Pelkey
Cartier - Carkey
Gauthier - Gokey
Even in the lower tier of Quebec, where there was a prevalent English population, these corruptions occurred.By the mid-to-late 1800s many French Canadians were on the move!!!
If you find out your name goes back to Quebec, I'm stuck on a Cluche family that first went to Cambridge, MA and ended up in New Boston, NH. I believe they were Cloutiers out of Quebec.One record indicates they were from Hiasinthe (St-Hyancinthe).
