Steuban was part of Ontario in 1790. 1800 it was a countyThen in 1860 part of it became Schuyler. I have the old Dollarhyde maps and overlays. They are wonderful for determining where and how the counties were formed. I only find Solomon of Steuban in the 1850 census. Which leads me to believe that he might have been under Canute in 1840 and 1860. I find nothing that tells me when he died. I once thought that Solomon might have been a different name originally. Solomon is not a dutch sort of name and the dutch often would change their name to correspond to an English sort of name.. Walraven became Walter,, Evert became Ephraim,, Jacob became James.. Bata became Bathsheba( my personal favorite). on and on..
