Re: Jabez Cobb 1721, Plymouth & Nova Sco
I have quite a lot of historical information on the two brothers of Col. Elisha Cobb who emigrated to Liverpool, Nova Scotia: they were Capt Jabez Cobb and Capt Sylvanus Cobb. Sylvanus was already famous in Nova Scotia for his contributions to the fight against the French and his unorthodox military style (he learned guerrilla tactics from the Indians). Jabez was more conventional, and raised a large family in Liverpool. Most of their children were female, and the Cobb name had died out in Nova Scotia by about 1850. There is a monument to Sylvanus in Liverpool, and one can still visit the site of the old Cobb house, which is now a town park. The town musem has a lot about the family and their descendents.
