Hi Jenn, It's nice to meet a fellow Ifama researcher and long lost cousin. Ifama is one elusive lady!
I do have some interesting information that could help us. Since I'm a direct maternal descendant of Ifama, I took the mtDNA test to find out our deep ancestry. My relatives have always said we are part native (other cousins I've meet said Shawnee), but it is hard to find any information on this. I got my results back and my/her haplogroup is H - a common European ancestry. That would mean that her mother was of European background - although her father could have been native. There were a lot of people in the area of Guilford County NC who came from the Alsace region of France/Germany - including the Cobles and the Hagey family that Ifama married into. Maybe her mother was also from that area of Europe? I would love to share info with you. Lets keep in touch.
