Family lore is all I have, my great-aunt Lydia lived to be 94 and was completely lucid until her end in 1969, she was the sister of Mattie Ifama.Mary Arthur and David Jr, son of David and Ifama Coble were their parents.I am going to try to track down my 'cousins' that descended from Aunt Lydia, to see if they have a family bible or some other documentation, as she was the last of that generation.
What I can't figure out is if Ifama was a Coble before she married David, and if they ever were, in fact, married.Unfortunately, legal documentation for marriages and births in North Carolina was not consistent or required until the early 1900's, and the Guilford County Library genealogist assures me there is nothing there on Ifama, as she was a woman there would not be unless she had inherited land or was notorious for more than marrying several times.
