Leonard COCHEL or COHEL
I am seeking for more info on the COCHEL family of Huntingdon and Mifflin counties in PA.Leonard was born about 1797.His wife's name is Rachel. They had at least 6 living children in the 1840 census. One son I believe is named Leonard and another is possibly Samuel.I am trying to find names of their daughters.I think one may be Hannah.
Hannah's youngest son's death give the name as COLE in 1919, but I do not find any COLE's in the area where Hannah and her husband were known to have lived. The 1860 census for Leonard and wife Rachel gives the last named spelled COHEL. Earlier census' give the spelling as COCHEL.
I am looking at this family due to the varriant of the spelling that it could be mistaken for COLE more than 60 years by a grandchild who supplied the info for the death record. Also are the names of 2 of Hannah's children. Hannah named her first child Rachel and a son with the name of Thomas Leonard. The name Leonard was carried down 2 more generations. All in all this line has enough evidence to warrent a deeper look.
Hannah was born in 1814/15. She married about 1835/6.
