Sarah J. Cocker of Paterson, NJ marr. Hosea Bell of Cincinnati, Ohio 1845
Don’t know how Sarah J. Cocker Bell, wife of Hosea, relates to other Cockers who are living in Paterson, New Jersey in this time period. It may be that she is a daughter of either Abraham Cocker (see http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=cockers&id=I315http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=cockers&id=I315or William Cocker http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=cockers&id=I435http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=cockers&id=I435
Here is what another Paterson area Cocker descendant, Arlette Keri, has bumped into recently.
1.Sarah Cocker of Paterson married Hosea Ball of Cincinnati, OH - The marriage was in the "Paterson Intelligence" newspaper (complied by Passaic County Historical Society from Mattie Bowman's notes.
It listed the minister as a Rev Thomas McCarroll. Dated 3/26/1845.
In the the PCHS Church Book and was found that Rev Thomas McCarroll as the minister of the Cross Street ME Church at that time.
2. Sarah and Hosea do not show up in Ancestry.com’s census indexes.
3. In a New Jersey Archives online death index, my cousin turned up a transit permit for the remains of Sarah J. Bell, age unknown, location Passaic County – Paterson City, 1882.Finding info for record:1881-82.83-B82 (TP).I do not have a URL for the online index.
The other Cockers who show up in Patterson, New Jersey by the mid-1800s are from Oldham a town near Manchester in Lancashire, UK.
