According to the book, THE COFFIN FAMILY, published in 1962 and distributed by the Nantucket Historical Society, LEVI COFFIN (b 10.10.1763; d 3.30.1833) married PRUDENCE WILLIAMS of NC (b 3.18.1758; d 6.2.1845). They had seven children: Deborah, Beulah, Mary, Ann, LEVI, Priscilla, AND Sarah.
Their son, LEVI (b 10.28. 1798; d 9.16. 1877), married CATHERINE WHITE (b 10. 9. 1803; d 5.22.1881). They had six children: Jesse S., Addison, Thomas F., Henry W., Anna U., Sarah Emeline.
The notes for Levi say: "Levi was noted for his labors on behalf of fugitive slaves prior to the war of 1861 and to the freedmen during and after the war. In 1876 he published a book of Reminiscences. His early life was passed in North Caro;lina, whence he moved to Indiana, 1826, and thence in 1847 to Cincinnati, Ohio. He died at his residence in Avondale, a suburb of Cincinnati."
This book also indicates that Levi (Sr) died in North Carolina.
