No Elaine, you are not the forgotten Coggburns, we just don't know how we are connected. My James E. born abt 1801 in Greene Co, TN, married Mary Ann "Polly" Lance in Buncombe Co., NC, had 3 children including my great grandfather John Jefferson Cogburn. He left his wife and children and went to Murray Co., GA and married Elzada Spurlon in Murray Co. GA.(Marriage License) had 3 children and moved to Montgomery Co. AR and had many more. I just haven't found the connection to the Missouri clan yet but am sure there is one.
